However, controversy has spreads over whether they were distorting the image of nurses and commercializing them as sex products. some suggested that the lyrics should be reflected and viewed as an independent art genre without any specific intention. How far should we allow freedom of artistic expression? The controversial music video scene of 'Love and sick girls' Sexual Objectification that has Existed for a Long Time In fact, nurses are working hard, taking a risk about various diseases and pandemic of corona infection. However, they have been called "agassi" since the past, and their images are distorted by popular culture at a time when costumes are made around uniforms, worsening the image of a branded nurse. Besides nurses, there are people like flight attendants and teachers. There has long been a history of sexual objectification of jobs mainly for women. That is why we need to look at the sexual fixation problems that have existed for a long time. India? Brazil? Wrong. If it is difficult, I will give you a hint. The focus should be on 'digital'. The answer is YouTube. 1. The World of YouTube According to data from the social media platform management company Hootsuite and British digital marketing company Wears Social, Facebook is the number one country in digital territory. It is close to 2.4 billion people. Number 2 is YouTube with 2 billion people. It is far more than 1.4 billion China or 1.3 billion India. Moreover, its pace of population growth is unparalleled. YouTube is available in more than 90 countries in 80 languages. The daily viewing time amounts to 1 billion hours. Korea's YouTube upward trend is also great. According to the "Social Media and Search Portal Trend Report 2020" survey of 620 men and women in their 10s to 50s in Korea, 89.2 % of users watch YouTube, and what is more surprising is that more than 30 % of users in their 40s and 50s watch YouTube. One of the characters in the drama was hiding his mind and has been living a life for others, not his own. In one scene, he is shocked to hear that he is hypocritical but realizes that he was. Later, the word ‘hypocrite’ became a real-time search word. What is hypocrisy? We can see people around us holding back their minds and pretending to be okay, pretentious, and nice. Have you ever acted like that yourself? There is one related syndrome in psychology. It is called ‘Good Child Syndrome’. I would like to talk about the differences between the two, how to distinguish them, and how to overcome each of them. The drama ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ Moon Kang-tae, played by actor Kim Soo-hyun in the play, is a person who gave up his life and emotions for his older brother who suffers from *autism. Due to his brother's mental symptoms that come every year, they have to move repeatedly and have no relationship with people as much as possible. It is a character who does not care about his feelings because it is a habit to suppress his emotions to take care of his older brother. This is what actress Seo Ye-ji says when she saw Moon Kang-tae. The dictionary defines the meaning of *hypocrite as a person who pretends to be good. Good Boy Syndrome is a term that literally means a tendency to become a good child by hiding negative emotions, feelings, and obeying other people's words. Psychoanalysis sees it as part of a defense mechanism to survive in an environment that is feared to be abandoned by childhood caregivers. What the two have in common is that they hide their true feelings and pretend not to. The Good Boy Syndrome can later develop into a hypocrite. If you are always nice to your friends, parents, and teachers, you will try to be nicer and people around you will be more comfortable. However, when you become an adult, you will not be able to express your feelings and may think that you are a hypocrite by your false pretenses. What are the Symptoms of Good Boy Syndrome? ① Always bright Even if he is angry or annoyed, he tries to calm his feelings with a bright smile instead of revealing them.It is hard to deal with when someone gets angry. ②Cannot refuse another person's request. You cannot even show that you hate it. When you have to make a decision, follow others rather than make your own. The more times you say yes about the symptoms above, the more likely you are to have a good boy syndrome. How to Overcome? ① I am the one who is most precious. The habit of thinking about people around you first is good, but you should also know how to speak your own voice. You should know that you are the one who you should love and take care of the most. ②Learn how to decline When your situation is not favorable, you need to know how to quickly reject it. People who suffer from good boy syndrome say they are sorry for what they have not done wrong. Let’s take various tests as well as psychological tests professionally at the Student Counseling Center! ▲The Image of Psychology Types and Methods of Applying for Psychological Tests Conducted by Sangmyung University A psychological test can be tested when you want to objectively evaluate your personality, interest, aptitude and psychological state. Psychological tests are being conducted by the Student Counselling Center. Since April, Sangmyung University students can conduct online psychological tests. To help adapt to school life after admission, we recommend MBTI test, enneagram test, K-IIP test, TCI test to freshmen. What makes the song even more special is because of the "Any Song Dance Challenge," the song challenge marketing. The challenge began with a wide spread of videos taken with MAMAMOO Hwasa and Chungha with witty lyrics and easy dance moves that anyone can follow. It showed the connected public of the new SNS era. Zico's “Any Song” released on Jan. 13, 2020, topped the music charts upon its release. The song is exciting and the rhythm is fun, but Zico's expression in the music video is boring from start to finish. The feeling of “not funny” creates an ironic mood. When he was asked on several music programs, “Did you expect your song to be this big issue?”, he said, “I didn't expect it at all. After all the hard works of the final exams, students have free time to enjoy things that they have not done during their school semesters. But there seems to be a lot of university students wasting their winter vacation. (Do a poll about What university students do in their winter vacations and attach it here) So today, I am going to introduce some of the finest travel courses to go on a trip to, during this vacation. -What conditions should we think about the trip? The first important thing is to set the date of the trip. A successful trip depends on whether the trip is boring or enjoyable. If the travel time of a trip is too long, the trip becomes loose. On the other hand, if it’s too short, you might have some regrets about it. The length of a trip can vary from a day to a year. Here is a survey that shows the average length of a trip for university students. ▲A Pie Chart on How Long is Enough to go on a Trip The pie chart shows that at about 73% of students favored to go on a trip for less than a week. Looking at this chart, it is a common thing to set the length of a trip for a week. The second important thing is to decide where you want to go. You are less likely to have a successful travel if you don’t plan for it specifically. Hot places? Icy cold weather? Where is the most desirable place? So, I am going to introduce two proper places where students can go. -Bangkok, The Holy Land of Backpackers. Bangkok has been voted as one of the most popular places of summer resorts. Bangkok is also a paradise for travelers who love to eat food. Because there is plenty of food to eat which is cheap compared to Korea. ▲Bangkok’s one of the Desirable Food Pad Thai One of the Bangkok’s famous food is Pad Thai. There is a saying that “You cannot have a conversation about Bangkok with someone who hasn’t tried Pad Thai before.” The food is basically noodles, but with a spicy sauce and some bean sprouts added. The servers give out sugar independently to give a choice for some sweet flavors. I personally liked the sugar added Pad Thai. Pad Thai is a great pick for you if you are willing to feel like a local resident of Bangkok. ▲The Grand Palace of Bangkok As an attraction, there is the Grand Palace of Bangkok. The palace is known for its beauty. The palace consists of the Emerald Buddha and colorful roofs and temples. The Thai people think of the palace as a sacred place, so a strict dress code is requested. Men must wear long pants with sleeves and women are not allowed to wear tank tops. If you are about to visit the Grand Palace, be sure to check your outfits. -Busan, The Second Capital City of Korea ▲Night View of Gwangan Bridge Busan is located at the far southern place of Korea. The city is famous for sashimi and fresh seafood. If you are planning to go on a friendship trip with your friend and looking for a proper place to enjoy, Busan is a good place for you. ▲Fresh Sashimi Served at Jagalchi Market The main food that you cannot miss is sashimi of course. You can have the freshest sashimi near the Jagalchi market, located at the harbor of Busan. In winter, the flatfish and tuna sashimi are at the best condition to make sashimi. With enjoying fresh sashimi with soju, looking at the Gwangan Bridge would be such an impressive landscape. Gwangan Bridge has a special night view if you visit in the evening. All the pictures that I took near the Bridge were such a masterpiece. What if you could make money from your hobbies? Or what if you could form a community with people who have hobbies like you? Actually, it exists. It is the hobby-sharing platform. The hobby-sharing platform is a hobby and talent-sharing community created by the influence of a shared economy*. You can commercialize your hobbies and form communities with people who have the same hobbies like you. The hobby-sharing platform is becoming popular recently and many hobby-sharing platforms are growing rapidly. The SM Herald is going to introduce the most popular hobby-sharing platforms, ‘솜씨당’ and ‘Frip.’ ▶49 students Sangmyung University The SM Herald asked 49 students Sangmyung University what hobbies they were interested in. As a result, most of the survey respondents said photography (51%), and cooking (44.9%). These top responses (photography, cooking) show many students prefer learning hobbies closely connected with daily life. Then, how are students enjoying their hobbies? Students can create a club for the activities they want, but we wondered if there would be any way to learn hobbies more professionally and share knowledge. While collecting information, we got to know the hobby-sharing platforms. Users can choose groups where people get together to enjoy, learn, and share the same hobby. And also, the users can communicate with other people through the platforms before meeting. ▶49 students Sangmyung University The SM Herald asked the same students if they had heard of or used the hobby-sharing platforms. There are many hobby-sharing platforms providing opportunities to learn various hobbies of high quality. However, most of the respondents (65.7%) answered that they did not know about the existence of any platform and had no experience using it. Therefore, we are going to introduce “Frip” and “솜씨당 (Somssidang)” to the students, which are relatively less known. Special one day classes, “솜씨당” “솜씨당” is a platform which provides space for users to share their hobbies.“솜씨당” focuses on creating a place where people with the same interests in our area, neighborhood, or field gather to share their experiences and share experiences with others. For this reason, “솜씨당” provides hobby classes and the workshop searching service. The difference between other hobby-sharing platforms is that “솜씨당” focuses on local based offline classes. It is analyzed that there are a lot of classes that go to the workshop such as baking, handicrafts, and flowers and learn about 80% of the one-day classes that can be enjoyed casually. ▶Class classification “솜씨당” has 8 categories which include ‘flowers’, ‘cooking’, ‘handicrafts’, ‘art’, ‘life style’, ‘music’, ‘kids’ and ‘home class.’ The following chart shows details about each class. You can log in by ‘Kakao Talk’, too. “솜씨당” gives 100 points for new members. 3) Select the class. You can easily choose classes by tapping in ‘detail conditions.’ 4) Select the class reservation date and the number of applicants. After selecting the date and the number of applicants, press the apply button. 5) Type in the applicant’s information and select a payment method to pay. 6) Make payment. In addition, you can exchange messages with your teacher and share the class with others. Special one day classes, “Frip” “Frip” is an application where an individual host can share their own leisure products. The hosts activating in Frip are about 10,000, and the number of users exceeded 740,000 as of August this year. Users can enjoy 6,000 kinds of hobbies in Frip. The survey shows that lots of students are interested in hobbies in various fields. The hobby-sharing platforms such as "솜씨당"(Somssidang) and Frip will provide new opportunities to the students. Do you really think he will pour tears and have a “멘붕” (menboong: mental breakdown) because teenagers have made new words and expressions? Hang on if you want to know the answer. Some say these kinds of phenomenon made by teens are breaking down the rules of Hangeul. However, using the English alphabet instead of Hangeul and abbreviations are actually closer to ‘language’ change and destruction, and is not ‘Hangeul’ destruction. This means that the Korean language is not the Korean alphabet itself. I am sure you can understand this sentence easily enough. Then why is everybody confused about this? First of all, Hangeul is so closely related to sound that people confuse most of the language destruction phenomena with 'Hangeul destruction' like the examples above. Another reason for the kind of articles on Hangeul Day that say King Sejong would shed tears, is, we do not have any other ‘Korean Day’. Since there is no Korean Day, as people (even smart teachers and reporters) look back on how right they are using their language, they must have confused the destruction of the language with the destruction of Korean. In short, the close relationship of the language and the alphabet has made the people think the two are the same thing. In short again, King Sejong won’t cry over language breakdowns. He made Hangeul, the alphabet, not the Korean language itself. ‘Language’/‘Hangeul’ Breakdowns and King Sejong Some people might not agree with me yet and say King Sejong would cry nevertheless. Yes, when something is not original, it makes some people uncomfortable. This may make you think ‘Language’/‘Hangeul’ breakdowns will break his heart. Looking back again though, King Sejong made Hangeul for people who did not know the Chinese characters to make their words into letters and make them easier to use. He wanted to increase opportunities and chances to speak out for the people. Yaminjeongeum(야민정음) is an example of a Hangeul breakdown. The shape of the letters is rearranged and misplaced. It may not be a perfect phenomenon and is difficult to communicate for people who do not know the rules. However, every language constantly changes. There is no way King Sejong would not know this fact. Korean and Hangeul have already changed shape, grammar, spelling, etc. through history. Therefore, King Sejong would probably be more interested in how his invention has naturally evolved in his people’s hands. Examples of Yaminjeongeum, the shape of the letters is rearranged and misplaced by a similar looking letter. 2) Interview: SMU Korean Language and Culture Professor Koo Hyun-Jung -Normally, when we think of Hangeul Day we think of King Sejong. Is there anyone and any other information we should know? In the movie The King's Letters (2019, 나랏말싸미) the character of the Buddhist monk 'Sinmi' played a big role in making Hangeul. However, movies are just movies and are not history. The production of Hangeul was King Sejong's achievement, and Sinmi only played a role in the process of translating Buddhist scriptures into Korean to verify the effectiveness of Hangul. Along with King Sejong, the person we should remember is the American missionary Homer Hulbert who created the first textbook in Korean. Not only did he act in many ways for Korea's independence, but he also led the effort to educate Koreans and spread the Korean alphabet by creating a textbook called Sămin p'ilji in 1891. He said, "I want to be buried in Korea rather than buried in Westminster Abbey", and his grave is in Yanghwajin. -What comes to mind when you think of Hangeul and Hangeul Day? It reminds me of Choi Hyeon-bae, who wrote Urimalbon (1937) in the Japanese colonial era. It would have been difficult to revive the Korean language if it were not for the Korean alphabet because during the colonial period Korean was not allowed to be used by prohibiting and changing Korean names. I thank the Korean Language Society (Joseoneo Hakhoe) teachers, including Choi Hyeon-bae, who treated Hangeul as a life and made dictionaries in prison. A note saying “Hangeul is life.” By Choi Hyeon-bae There are more than 7,000 languages and are all good for communicating and there are no 'better' languages than another. However, letters are a product of culture, and they reflect the level of a culture. Hangeul is the most advanced alphabet in the history of the development of characters. It is a featural alphabet whose common sound features are expressed in the same shape. Hangeul is the proudest cultural heritage for me as a Korean. - What kind of language life do you expect from your students as a professor and auditor of the Korean Language Society? Korean is a frame for expressing your thoughts, and the frame containing Korean is Hangeul. Ju Si-gyeong said, "If your words are harsh, your writings are rough; if your writings are rough, the words you use get harsh; if words and writings are calmed and controlled, the will and work of the people shall be governed." The term of Political Correctness has come to refer to avoiding language and behavior that can be seen as excluding, marginalizing, or insulting the groups considered disadvantaged or discriminated against. The groups are usually defined by gender or race. This means that it is right to erase discriminations and prejudices from political perspective, particularly in multiracial nation like America. It should be the purpose of Political Correctness to remove the terms that make people suffer from a common language. Political Correctness has started to segue into the matter of the social minority’s rights from the matter of language. With the stream of the trend, many movies have begun to deal with the story of social minorities like racial minorities and women. The Movies including Political Correctness Zootopia, Byron P. Howard and Rich Moore, 2016 Judy, the small bunny, is discriminated against after being a police officer in an area of huge animals. And also, Nick, the fox, suffers hardships under prejudice that “the fox is the sly animal.” I think that the species and features of the animals indicate the genders and races of the humans. The movie shows the process how they overcome the discriminations and prejudices. In addition, it satirizes the modern society by presenting a character trying to gain political advantages with the support of the minority. Miss Baek, Lee Ji-won, 2018 This film shows the companionship between a child and a woman who have been damaged by family violence. The woman understands the situation of the child and becomes a helper for her. The child, who was not protected by society, gets over a desperate circumstance and grows brightly after meeting the helper. Especially, Miss Baek was a box office hit in Korea thanks to hearty support of female audiences. Movies with a female director are really rare in Korea, so many female audiences banded together to let all people know about this movie. Emotional Debates from Political Correctness Discussions A problem appears when people address Political Correctness. The term of Political “Correctness” implies right in itself. Some people have bad manners to the people who have opposite views on Political Correctness. This situation leads to raw criticisms against one another. I think that Political Correctness was made to bring people together, not to make other conflicts. Therefore, the process is necessary to check and understand each other’s opinions. We should understand each other. Lots of movies are trying to reflect the rights of minorities according to the passage of time. The audiences’ attitudes about the movies could vary. However, to separate each other without understanding will make social conflicts. I think that the society must grow positively with sound discussions. In this situation, the movie’s role is to enlighten people about the bias and discrimination in daily life. And also it should suggest the methods to overcome them with everyone coexisting.
